John Isner finally tastes victory in Acapulco

Acapulco, Gro february 26th.- After five participations in Abierto Mexicano Telcel presentado por HSBC, John Isner, third seed of the tournament and number 9 in the world, finally won a match after defeating in three sets Adrian Mannarino.

During the first game of the day, the 33-year-old player, ended the losing streak he had in Acapulco, and won the match in three sets (6-3, 4-6, 6-3).

Isner scored a total of 18 aces and had 80 percent of effectiveness with his first service; while Mannarino wasn’t consistent enough and committed six double faults during the match.

It is Isner’s the eighth victory against Mannarino (no. 51 in the ATP ranking). The most recent was last week in Delray Beach.

Isner lost the last four times he played in Acapulco (2010, 2014, 2017 and 2018, it is the first he passes to the second round of the tournament.

Diego Schwartzman, fourth favorite, faced Marius Copil and had to fight in three sets (6-3, 4-6, 6-1). Diego, no. 25 of the ATP ranking, qualified to the second round and is a strong candidate to get to the final of the tournament.

On the second round he will face Cameron Norrie, who on his part, defeated Yoshito Nishioka in three sets (6-2, 2-6 ,6-2).

This year, Norrie was a finalist in Auckland, were he lost against to Tennys Sandgren.
