¡The Telcel Mexican Open presented by HSBC is inaugurated!

  • “The Mexican Open is a high-level competition, but it is also a gathering, it is exciting, and it is a space where we all fit in,” said Renata Burillo, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Mextenis.

Acapulco, February 23, 2026.- The Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Mextenis, Renata Burillo, together with the Governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado Pienda, inaugurated the 33rd edition of the Telcel Mexican Open presented by HSBC, recognizing that the tournament generates development, boosts the local economy, and strengthens tourism in the port of Acapulco.

“Thirty-three years sounds easy, but each edition represents passion, commitment, and a community that has made this tournament something very special. The Mexican Open is a high-level competition, yes, but it is also a gathering, it is exciting, and it is a space where we all fit in,” acknowledged Renata Burillo.

The tournament’s social commitment is also reflected in the activities surrounding the Open, such as Kids Day, which was held on Sunday. “We experienced something that, for me, sums up who we are: more than 3,000 families gathered together, the presence of children from different foundations, and seeing so many smiles and so many families reminds us that tennis is also joy, inspiration, and community,” said Burillo.

For the state governor, Evelyn Salgado, the Mexican Open Telcel presented by HSBC provides an opportunity to promote the port of Acapulco as a tourist destination through television.

“It is an international event, and it is an honor for Guerrero to host one of the most important tournaments, an event that promotes our state in several countries. Acapulco is a benchmark for tourism and sports. Acapulco is alive and standing strong, with all the necessary infrastructure and security conditions in place. The Mexican Open represents development, boosts employment, and strengthens the local economy and tourism,” she said.

After the inauguration, the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Mextenis and the Governor of Guerrero toured the commercial stands located next to the GNP Seguros Arena, accompanied by Álvaro Falla, tournament director; Seyed Rezvani, director of Grupo Mundo Imperial; Geoffrey Fernández, tournament operations director; and Simón Quiñones, Guerrero’s Secretary of Tourism.
