The Spaniard, a finalist in the 2025 edition, awaits the winner of the match between Italy’s Mattia Bellucci and Australia’s Rinky Hijikata, who entered the main draw as a lucky loser after the withdrawal of the United States’ Sebastian Korda.

In the first set, Davidovich-Fokina started 0-2 down after losing his serve but evened the score by breaking him in the third game and defending his serve.

Once settled on the court and playing good tennis, both held serve until 5-5.

The Spaniard kept his cool to break Altmaier for 6-5 and close out the set with his serve for 7-5.

The Spaniard took the second set by opening and closing the set with a break in the ninth game and defending his serve four times for 6-3 in an hour and 35 minutes of play.

In unforced errors, Altmaier had 23 to Davidovich-Fokina’s 21, who recorded 76% on his first serve compared to the German’s 59%.
