Sloane wins the match against Parmentier

Acapulco, Gro., February 26th.- Sloane Stephens took a step closer to the title of Abierto Mexicano Telcel presentado por HSBC. The favorite left out Pauline Parmantier and the final score of the match was a double 6-2.

This way, Slone keeps a 4-1 record against Parmentier (3-0 in hard court). The only victory of Pauline was in 2016, in second round of Strasburg.

This is the first match Sloane plays since Australian Open, she seemed to have minor issues, but in the end, she solved them. Her effectivity percentage with the first service was 66, also she connected two aces and no double faults.

The 2017 US Open champion and Pauline Parmentier also played in last year’s edition of the tournament.

Parmentier, tried to resist, but she struggled with her first service and only won 13 out of 29 points.

“I kept my concentration at all times, it feels good to be back, it is the first win after Australia and I feel good about it”, said Sloane.

The second set didn’t start well for Pauline Parmentier, her rival broke her twice, in the first and third game. Though Parmentier had a chance to recover from one of the breaks on the eight game, with an inverted forehand to the sideline, the American saved the ball and then had the first match point. She had a second match point after crashing the ball into the net, but this time she didn’t lost it and ended the match after 1:09 hours.
Sloane will face next Beatriz Haddad Maia for the first time.

In other results, Daria Gavrilova faced Mihaela Buzărnescu for the first time in their careers, with a positive outcome for Mihaela, winning in two sets (6-4, 6-2).
Tatjana Maria defeated Martina Trevisan, in two sets (6-2 and 7-6 (1)). Maria played semifinals in Newport Beach.
