Acapulco, Gro., 1 de marzo.- Yafan Wang defeated Donna Vekic, and got the first ticket of the night to the final of Abierto Mexicano Telcel presentado por HSBC. The Chinese player, no. 65 the world, won in three sets (2-3, 6-3, 6-1).

This was the fifth semifinal Wang has played, and tomorrow she will seek the first title in her professional career.

Vekic and Wang played the first turn in Estadio Pegaso, this being the first time they played each other. Both players had a hard start, but Vekic won the first set.
In the second set after losing her serve in the seventh game, Vekic lashed out the racket and bursted in tears. Her coach, Torben Beltz, came in to try to reassure her, but Vekic’s disappointment was evident.

The Chinese was the first to keep her serve, and once again she broke Donna’s serve and took the match to a third set.

Vekic could not find the focus and gave the serve again. In this set she was only able to win a game, and Wang won one hour and 50 minutes.
