Acapulco, Gro., 1 de marzo.- Alexander Zverev is on its way to his first title of 2019, defeating Brit Cameron Norrie 7-6(0), 6-3 on Friday to reach the final of the Abierto Mexicano Telcel presentado por HSBC.

Alexander has gone one step further than last year here in Acapulco, when he lost to Juan Martín del Potro in the semi-finals in straight sets. Zverev, the second seed, has not lost a set this week, getting broken just twice through four matches, the player left out, in the way to the final, Alexei Popyrin, David Ferrer and Alex de Miñaur.

“I’m very happy to be in the final. That was the goal at the start of the week. This is so far a very special week for me and I hope I can continue it”, Zverev said.

Norrie could not reach his second ATP Tour final (Auckland earlier this year), as Zverev was too solid from the baseline. The German did not make many errors, and while Norrie battled, Zverev was never seemed under much pressure. On his way to the semifinal, Norrie (no.64 in the ATP ranking), left out Yoshihito Nishioka, Diego Schwartzman and Mackenzie McDonald. Only one year ago, he lost in the first round of Abierto Mexicano Telcel, against Dominic Thiem.

Alexander Zverev used his first serve to take the advantage, striking 10 aces and winning 81 percent of first-serve points.

Sascha won seven straight points, to win the set. The Key came in the third set when he broke his rival’s serve, the he served and Norrie crashed the ball in to the net.
