Rafael nadal returns to acapulco to inaugurate the arena gnp seguros in the xxix edition of the Abierto Mexicano Telcel presentado por HSBC

Mexico, January 17th, 2022. – The legendary Spanish tennis player and Mexico’s favorite, Rafael Nadal, will seek victory in the new venue of the Abierto Mexicano Telcel presentado por HSBC tournament, which will be held February 21st through February 26th , 2022.

Rafael Nadal, current number 5 in the world, will be part of one of the best

draws in the history of the Tournament, a highly competitive draw made of 5

top-ten players in the world. Rafa, must face tennis players with a great level, such as the Russian Daniil Medvedev (No. 2), the German Alexander Zverev

(No. 3), the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (No. 4) and the Italian Matteo Berrettini (No.7).

“Rafa is very adored by the Mexican fans, and he has a very important history with our tournament. It is indeed a celebration to have him here this year along with other Top players. There is no doubt that there will be memorable matches in the premiere of the Arena GNP Seguros. Mexico, January 3rd, 2022. – Serbian Novak Djokovic, number one in the world, and the four star-players of the XXIX edition of the Abierto Mexicano Telcel presentado por HSBC, Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Matteo Berretini ignited the 2021 season.

The Russian Medvedev, 25 years old and number 2 in the world, lived one of the best seasons of his career, he added four more titles in 2021, stood out in the US Open, which meant his first victory in a Grand Slam tournament after defeating Novak Djokovic in the Final.

With Medvedev, Russia won their third Davis Cup by defeating Croatia 2-0 in the Final, and it was Daniil who gave him the decisive point by defeating Croatia’s Marin Cilic 7-6, 6-2.

In their sixth Davis Cup Final, Russia reached the “Dwight Davis’s trophy” for the third time after several wins against France in 2002 and Argentina in 2006.

As a professional, Medvedev has 13 titles, and he will seek to increase that number at the opening of the new venue of the tournament, the Arena GNP Seguros in Acapulco.

The German Zverev and the Greek Tsitsipas, third and fourth in the world, will return to Acapulco to try to repeat the 2021 Final that ‘Sascha’ won 6-4, 7-6 (3).

Zverev is the reigning champion of the ATP 500 of Acapulco and will be, for the fifth time, in the Abierto Mexicano Telcel presentado por HSBC.
