|

  •  Taylor made a donation to fight fires in Los Angeles, California, a city very close to the town where he was born
  • Fritz’s record in the AMT is 14 matches won and 6 defeats; his first participation was in 2016

Mexico City, January 22, 2025.- Taylor Fritz is not only an extraordinary tennis player, he is also an athlete who cares about his community. Proof of this is the altruism he has practiced throughout his career, on this occasion the Californian donated the winnings from the first round of the Australian Open to firefighting in Los Angeles.

Fritz is currently the fourth best tennis player in the world, which has been his best position since November 2024 in the PIF ATP Rankings. So far in 2025 he has a record of four wins and one loss, after losing in the third round of the first Grand Slam of the year to Frenchman Gael Monfils.

Altruism and his good sporting performance have always gone hand in hand. Taylor grew up in a small town in southern California called Rancho Santa Fe, in San Diego County, just 107 kilometers away from Los Angeles. In this city he grew up and developed in sports, hence the great love he has for this city, which today is in a complicated situation.

Tennis was always present in his home in California. His mother, Kathy May, was a professional tennis player and reached the tenth position in the world ranking in 1977, while his father, Guy Fritz, was also a professional player and later became a coach.

Taylor’s tennis career has been meteoric since his youth, winning the US Open as a junior at the age of 17 and the Indian Wells Masters in 2022, his favorite home tournament.

Last year in Acapulco, he said goodbye in the first round; however, for this 2025 he will seek to surpass his best performance so far in the Mexican tournament, which was reaching the final in 2020, where he lost to Spain’s Rafael Nadal.

Taylor’s record in the Abierto Mexicano TELCEL presented by HSBC is 14 matches won and 6 defeats, while his first participation in Mexican lands was in the 2016 edition.
