Rublev had good times, showed off his power and his privileged forehand, but it was not enough to beat one of the crowds favourite. And so he showed that this is his territory, which is one of his favorite tournaments (one of the seven in which he accumulates 30 or more wins). “I want to rest a little and be ready to prepare each game,” David said at the end, happy for the result.

Acapulco, Guerrero, February 26, 2018. Irina Camelia Begu, fifth seed of the tournament advanced without any problems to the second round of Abierto Mexicano de Tenis Telcel, presented by HSBC, after defeating the American Christina Mchale, in three sets, 3- 6, 6-2 and 6-4.

Begu played 134 minutes match to finish as one of the favorites of the tournament, she was 63 percent effective. The Romanian will face Veronica Cepede Royg, ranked 82 WTA.

Although Mchale was eliminated from singles she remains in the doubles competition.

For its part, Veronica Cepede Royg won against Swiss Belinda Bencic, 4-6, 7-6 and 6-3 in a duel that took place at Grand Stand Caliente.
